December 17

1 John 1:4-7
We write this to make our joy complete.
This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you:
God is light;
in him there is no darkness at all.
If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness,
we lie and do not live out the truth.
But if we walk in the light,
as he is in the light,
we have fellowship with one another,
and the blood of Jesus, his Son,
purifies us from all sin.

“Joy to the World, the Lord has come”!  Complete joy, it can be mine.  This light that has been there from the beginning, the light that shines in the darkness, this light is Jesus the promised Messiah that Israel had been waiting for.  This light can bring me joy.

Jesus carried my sin to the cross with Him.  He died.  He was buried in the ground where hope felt lost.  But then three days later He rose from the dead and walked out of the tomb conquering death forever.  That gives Jesus the ability to take my sin away because he conquered death and rose victoriously.

If the light is in the distance, it does me no good.  I must choose to walk in the light, hand in hand with my Lord and Savior.  Walking in the light brings joy.
